Aug 2008 - Present. Potomac River Pilot / Standing Second Mate. Miss Ann Charters, United States of America, Washington, DC
The Miss Ann is a 1927 127' Pusey & Jones custom fantail yacht. As the acting First Mate, and standing Second Mate, I run the Miss Ann out of the Gangplank Marina. I was also the Potomac River pilot that was responsible for her delivery to Washington DC.

I run the 24' Contender Center Console & 31' American Aluminum Jet powered tow vessels out of National Harbor Marina. These are the local BoatU.S. tow services vessels serving the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers in Washington, DC.. My service area extends from Mt. Vernon to Three Sisters spanning over 30 miles of the Potomac River, 10 tributaries, and 12 marinas..

MIRC holds several contracts with NRL (U.S. Naval Research Laboratory) in which we provide vessels and captains. The captains serve a broad range of duties on this charters; Captain, Skipper, Steward, Host, Cook, Server, Deck Hand, research technician, etc. These trips have taken me all over the eastern seaboard for months aboard.

This application was designed and built by me. I have been a professional application developer since the mid 80's. It is a Float Plan Management and Generation tool. It works with internet access of any kind, be it your computer aboard, your computer at home, or your cellular devices. I, with the assistance of several other boat/cruising enthusiasts, monitor the Float Plans that are created with in this application.

I am a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. I currently hold 2 staff offices. FSO-CS (Flotilla Staff Officer - Computer Specialist) and OIC (Officer In Charge). As the FSO-CS for the 5SR15-7 flotilla my duties are to create, manage, and maintain the flotilla website. To keep up to date with the news items and issues concerning the flotilla's coverage area (Solomons Island & middle Potomac River areas of Maryland). As OIC for the 5SR15-7 Charles County Detachment my duties are to conduct the meetings, and provide leadership and vision to its members and attendees. I also conduct the monthly training sessions.

Southern Maryland Marine is a small and personal company, owned and operated by me. Unlike so many today, Southern Maryland Marine lives by the laws of a higher authority and therefore it's business ethics are beyond reproach. Since I only hire in my own image, I have yet to have a dissatisfied customer on any project. We offer a mobile marine maintenance service and provide captains and crew for all sorts of charter needs.

As the initial surveyor and captain of the Wave Dancer for it's first year, I was responsible for it's complete upkeep. Once they had a full time captain, I was used in releife status as the tournament captain. I ran this vessel thru 3 White Marlin Opens where we placed every time.

Skils
Chart Plotting and Navigation - I am proficient in several different chart plotter electronics, and use route building and charting techniques regularly. Paper charting is a fun pastime for me. I regularly chart courses to the locals that I desire most to visit someday.
Close Quarters Vessel Handling - Being a BoatU.S. Tow Boat Captain, I am regular required to move a clients boat and the tow boat in very tight fairways. I've become an expert in Close Quarters Vessel Handling,
Radar Operation - Having had extensive experience with various types of radar equipment, and having taken courses in radar operation have provided me with an excellent knowledge of the use and operation of several radar units.
I have gained valuable experience and knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay and it's tributaries,
specializing in the Potomac River waters. I've successfully completed vessel transfers down the
eastern seaboard from the Hudson River to the Florida Keys, utilizing both open ocean and ICW
courses. I've instructed proper handling and marine safety to hundreds and I am a proponent for
Marine Safety on the Internet with http://FloatPlanGenerator.com.
My knowledge and safety record speak for themselves and indicate that I'd be a great addition to
any crew.
