OWNER/MANAGER of a mid-size international fishing/hunting guiding service within Alaska and booking agency for 50+ other tourism/hunting/fishing enterprises world-wide. Charter boat captain of 26-45 foot fishing and tour boats providing transportation and water taxi to clients for hunting, sight seeing and fishing trips. On the average, serve 150+ international clients per year either or conducting hunting/fishing expeditions in Alaska or booking excursions, safaris, guided hunts and fishing trips in other locales. Bookings valued up to $20,000 each with gross revenues of $350K per year. Responsible for arranging to/from travel, lodging, transportation within destination, permitting, licensing, game importation/exportation across international borders, insurance, client safety and satisfaction, complaint handling and resolution, language interpretation when necessary, among numerous other on-call support services to upscale international clientele. Ninety-percent of business comes from word-of-mouth referrals by satisfied clients. Supervise work force of seven full-time and fifteen seasonal employees. I was a Guide and Captain for vessels in Alaska’s lakes, rivers, and ocean. Business management responsibilities include scheduling, supply and logistics, hiring, termination, payroll, taxes, licenses, regulatory compliance, Coast guard compliance and responsible for profitable operations to corporate stockholders.

H & C FEED AND PET SUPPLY 2000 – 2003

Palmer, Alaska

OWNER/MANAGER of sole-proprietorship retail/wholesale distribution pet and farm supply company with revenues exceeding $600K per year with fifteen employees. Business housed in 22,000 sq. foot warehouse and retail store. Retail responsibilities included hiring, termination, training of retail floor personnel, customer service, complaint handling and resolution, payroll, taxes, licenses, regulatory compliance and other tasks required of self-employed business owner. Wholesale business required procuring and retaining new retail outlets, introducing new product lines, warehousing and inventory, product quality and rotating livestock feed items sensitive to time and environmental conditions, scheduling of deliveries utilizing a fleet of five wholly-owned delivery trucks, and employee safety. Sold business at market value.



Boarding GREAT LAND KENNELS, LLC 1995 – 2005

Kennel Wasilla, Alaska

OWNER/MANAGER of mid-size kennel and pet-care business with boarding capacity of 133 animals per day. Kennels employed eight to twelve persons and boarded on average 1,200 dogs per month and served approximately 225,000 clients statewide per year with gross annual revenues exceeding $500K. Services included grooming, field training of hunting dogs, and breeding champion-line black Labrador retrievers. Personally participated in national field trials and demonstrations and published articles in national trade magazines. Awarded contracts with Alaska State Troopers and Anchorage police canine departments for training at canine academies and housing of police dogs when police handlers were out-of-town. Sold business at above market value.
