1997 - 1998 UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON London, England

MSc in Computer Science

The UCL MSc in Computer Science is a conversion program intended to introduce graduates with some work/scientific experience to computing. It comprises three terms (12 months), of which two are taught courses and the third is devoted to an individual programming project. The first term is an extensive introduction to Software Engineering and System Architecture. The second term adds Algorithmics and four option courses. The language used is C++ in a UNIX environment (Sun/Solaris workstations).

My final project at UCL was an astro-navigation Java program, accessed through the Web, which takes a user input of location and time and displays the Celestial bodies in their correct places on screen, essentially a website for the navigator or astronomer.

1988 - 1989 KING'S COLLEGE LONDON London, England

MA in War Studies, ABD in PhD Program

Interdisciplinary program emphasizing strategic studies and military history. Master’s thesis covered the controversial introduction of advanced technologies by the Luftwaffe during the later part of the 2nd World War. Research for the Mphil/PhD covered the Arab-Israeli conflict, concentrating on the evolution of Israel maritime and naval policy (see publications).

1985 - 1988 THE UNIVERSITY OF HAIFA Haifa, Israel

BA in Geography and European History. Courses taken covered European History from the Roman period to the formation of the European Union. Thesis discussed the failed Italian invasion of Greece in 1941. Studies in Geography were mostly concerned with Urban Planning, cartography and coastal geology. Languages studied included Latin (3 years) and German (2 years).

PUBLICATIONS:

“From Ice-Breaker to Missile Boat”, an account of the development of Israel’s naval policy, published July 2000 by Greenwood Publishing (originally written as a PhD dissertation for the University of London).
