m/y Li-Liën June 2012 – March 2018
Captain/Engineer, 121’ Heesen 3700. Daily operation and maintenance of private yacht with two to three full time crew, plus three to four additional for trips. Managed yard periods and ABS surveys; planned and executed trips for the owner and his guests. Vessel based in Palm Beach, FL; normal cruising grounds include, Florida, The Bahamas (Exumas, Abacos, and Bahamian out islands), and Turks and Caicos as well as the Florida Keys and Dry Tortugas. Cruised the Western Med in 2012 (France, Italy, Corsica, Spain and Balearic Islands). Cruised the Western and Eastern Med in 2015 (France, Italy, Corsica, Sardinia, Malta and Greece). Boat sold in February 2018, owner not getting another boat. Delivered and handed over vessel to new owner in Ibiza.
m/y My Kampaï Feb 2010 – Feb 2015
Captain/Engineer, 92’ Mangusta. No full time crew on this boat, hired, by the yacht manager, on an as needed basis to run sea trials, move the boat, boat show deliveries, and run trips for the owner and his guests. Extensive cruising of the Bahamas (Abacos, Exumas, Bimini, Harbour Island, Eleuthera, Cat Island), Florida Keys, SW Florida and the Okeechobee Waterway. Continued freelance work for the new owner and ultimately trained (on Jet Boat operation) a new Captain for the new owner.

Captain/Engineer, 82’ Sunseeker. Responsible for maintenance, repair and management of this private vessel as well as planning and running trips for the owner when he would visit from out of town. Several Bahamas trips (Abacos, Exumas, Nassau and Bimini) as well as Florida day trips. Moved on to devote full time attention to m/y Li-Lien after moving my residence too far away from the boat to be able to properly look after it.

Captain/Engineer, 90’ Cheoy Lee. Responsible for daily maintenance, repair, operation and management of this private/charter vessel. Assumed command of this very poorly maintained motor vessel and brought her back to respectable condition on a very limited budget. Handed off the job to a friend and moved on to other projects.

Captain, 100’ Mangusta. Assumed command for a new owner at a ship yard and managed a lengthy yard period and change of flag state. Delivery to and from Miami Boat Show, boat placed in brokerage at Bradford Marine, with no crew following the MIBS in 2010 due to owner’s change of heart regarding yacht ownership.

Second Officer, Back Up to the Captain/OIC on Gallant Lady Mega-Yachts – Licensed Captain when hired on, but everyone starts at 3 Mate; from there worked up the ladder to 2nd Officer (4 promotions in 4 years) before the financial crisis and mass layoffs at JM Family in March 2009. Proven leadership managing yacht crew during daily maintenance, home port cruises, ship yard projects and while underway during deliveries and island trips. Project Manager during ship yard periods of the Burger, Viking and Sea Ray. Perfect safety record operating all Gallant Lady vessels in Florida, The Bahamas, Western Europe and The Caribbean. OICNW on delivery of 168’ Gallant Lady from Makkum, NL to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, USA in 2007. Superior boat handling skills honed at the helms of all Gallant Lady Boats and Mega-Yachts. Positions held within the JMFE Marine Department include Captain (OIC) 58’ sea Ray, 65’ Viking Sport Cruiser and 106’ Burger as well as back up to the Captain on the 160’ Delta, 168’ Feadship and 172’ Feadship.

Co-Captain, 75’ DeVries-Lentsch motor yacht, delivery from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to St. Albans, WV. Ran continuously for 12 days on a six on, six off schedule with primary Captain. Traversed 23 lock systems on inland waterways. Operated from 1200 to 1800 and from 0000 to 0600 hours, often with zero visibility fog on unfamiliar inland waterways.

Conducted marine towing, salvage and spill response operations in South Florida / Western Bahamas. Excellent boat handling ability proven on over 2200 tows and over 200 salvage cases, the majority of which were unassisted. Level headed under pressure of May Day calls / emergencies. Supervised all maintenance and repair of tow boat fleet. Supervised up to five other Captains during daily operations; evaluated and trained approximately 40 new Captains during 4 year period as Senior Captain; executed complete rigging – structural, electrical and mechanical - of five new tow boats; large vessel tandem towing.
