SUMMARY

A sailor since the age of 10. Owned 17 sailboats over the years. Lived and sailed on both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Owned and lived aboard a 46’ sailboat for 11 years. Owned and operated two sailing charter companies and a yacht maintenance company. Also taught sailing and performed yacht deliveries.

WORK HISTORY

2003 to 2008 FREE SPIRIT SAILING ADVENTURES, Marina del Rey, CA

Owner/operator. Took guests sailing aboard a 46’ motorsailer. Did harbor

tours, sunset dinner cruises, day sailing, moonlight sailing, whale watching, fishing trips, scuba diving trips, and multi-day trips to Catalina Island and other Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California. As a USCG licensed captain, have been hired to deliver yachts along the coasts of southern California and Mexico. Also skippered a 40’ motoryacht for charter.



2003 to 2006 DEL REY YACHT SERVICE, Marina del Rey, CA

Owner. Performed yacht maintenance including washing/waxing, detailing,

fabrications in both wood and fiberglass, mechanical and electrical repairs, rigging, plumbing, upholstery, system installations, and consultations.



1990 - 1997 ROCKY POINT SAILING COMPANY, Phoenix, AZ

Owner/Operator. Took guests sailing at the top of the Gulf of California on several sailboats out of Rocky Point, Mexico. Did day sailing, moonlight sailing, whale watching charters, and overnight trips to Bird Island.



1983 - 2003 Computer Programmer/Analyst, Software Engineer. Worked at several companies such as Prudential Life Insurance, American Express, Allied Signal, Toyota, Paramount Pictures, and Honda as both a full-time employee and as a contractor until the work dissolved due to outsourcing/off-shoring.

Education


B.S.B.A - Computer Information Systems major. Worked as a software engineer for 20 years while chartering personal sailing yachts, delivering other privately-owned yachts, and serving as skipper on other charter yachts.


Certification


California Sailing Academy class of 2004. USCG 100-ton license. Sailing, Radio, and Towing endorsements. Member of ASA and USCG Auxilary.


Skils


Have owned 17 sailboats over a 40-year boating life. Familiar with all aspects of yacht handling.


 


Prefer to work as the skipper of a privately-owned yacht. Would also consider a position as engineer or able-bodied seaman.
