Experience
Summary: Extensive experience in maritime business - advancing from entry level
on the docks stevedoring to the top executive ranks, with broad national and international experience in negotiation, sales, loss control and customer relations coupled with negotiations with local and international labor unions.
Experience:
2006- present: Captain for City of Savannah ferry – full time with part time service to Dafuskie Island ferry service..
(2002-2006) Tandem Shipping: Vice President, a full maritime service company providing Agency services for various steamship lines calling the ports of Brunswick GA, Savannah GA. Monitored 96 hr NOA, set up vessel arrival with Homeland Security, Pilots, Tugs, Port Authority entered and cleared Customs completed B/L’s and disbursement accounts.
(1999-2002) Columbia Coastal Transport, from very close contacts established
while at Cooper/T Smith, I joined Columbia Coastal as their special projects manager. During this time I was involved in the sale of 2 barges and bare boat charters for numerous projects. The charter business was very successful; in fact the inventory was reduced to only regular service requirements leaving no requirements for my services. Nice company but not enough room for expansion after 9-11.
(1986-1999) Cooper/T Smith Stevedoring, brought in initial client line to launch
Savannah operation. I was responsible for sales, negotiation of contracts, collections, loss prevention, safety planning, and customer relations. Progressive increase in responsibilities prompted me to advance from manager of operations to assistant vice president. After serving as key individual in establishing Savannah office, went on to launch offices in ports of Charleston, Brunswick and Jacksonville. Negotiated contracts with the ILA including solo negotiator for Trailer Bridge in Jacksonville resulting in achieving a lesser increase than pre determined guidelines from T. Bridge.
