Experience
I bring more than 20 years of professional experience on commercial vessels to the passenger vessel industry. I hold a 4th issue 1600 ton Masters license with unlimited pilotage endorsements for central San Francisco Bay to the Farallon Islands that allows me to handle vessels of unlimited tonnage within the geographic limits.
Commercial Towing / Piloting
My professional maritime experience began on 105 ft. single and twin-screw tugs from 1300 to 4000 hp. on inland and offshore waters doing ship and barge work. Piloting experience includes oil barges up to 66,000 bbls., and flat-tows of heavy-lift barges, submarines and US Navy ships. Current projects include Docking master for BAE Systems, San Francisco Dry Dock for vessel up to 5000 tons and docking master for USCG 378 Class Cutters assisting with docking and undocking with tugs alongside. I also freelance as a independent pilot on San Francisco Bay.
Passenger Vessel Industry
I currently hold the position of Port Captain in the private charter and dinner boat arena with six fleet vessels ranging from 55 to 300 ft. (1600ton) and carrying up to 2000 passengers. I am also in charge of vessel deliveries worldwide. Recent deliveries include four 500 passenger Ferry Boats between the San Francisco and New York. Experience in marine weather forecasting including sea and swell forecasting.
