Canadian Master Near Coastal waters (unlimited tonnage),

Objective


Power yacht, small cruise boat, corporate yacht or charter fish-boat Captain on permanent live aboard basis anywhere in N.America or the Caribbean including all fresh and salt waters systems. Yacht delivery same areas or overseas. If certificates allow I would consider a master's position and possibly mate's anywhere in the world.


Experience


Have been mate and master of a 3800t rail-car ferry on lake Superior(1976-1992), deck officer on the Atlantic coast( McKeil Marine 2007-2010) and Great Lakes(Upper Lakes Steamships 1992-2006) Tug-master in the Western Arctic and McKenzie River systems Great Bear and Great Slave Lakes(NTCL and Streeper Bros Marine 1972-1975).Tugboat Captain with several dredging companies on the Great lakes.True paddle-wheeler day cruise boat Captain on Glenmore Lake, Calgary



and also Edmonton Alberta. Can pilot all the Great Lakes and connecting river systems including the St. Lawrence.Am familiar with the waters of the Eastern and Western Arctic.Have been master and deck officer since 1969 and have served in all capacities.


Education


High school dropout.Mainly self-educated. Returned to school De-Vry Tech now De-Vry University studied electronics. Three years of Marine school at Confederation College (Thunder Bay)where after obtaining my 1st mate Home Trade certificate I was hired on as an instructor teaching ship stability, astro-navigation,cargo work, and ship management. (1984,1985)


Certification


Master Near Coastal Waters (unlimited tonnage),Master of Home Trade Steamship under 500 tons, 1st Mate Home Trade(unlimited),Home Trade Tug master (unlimited).STCW 95,valid Canadian Coast Guard medical renewed March 30/2010,Radio Operator Marine Certificate and valid passport. All are Canadian certificates.


Skils


Boat handling, river and lake piloting. (All Great Lakes

St. Mary's, Detroit, St. Clair and St. Lawrence rivers. Am also able to pilot the Arctic Red, Nelson, Liard, McKenzie and Bear rivers and their tributaries.Can navigate the Eastern and Western Arctic waters from Barrow Alaska to Spence Bay in the west and up to Churchill Manitoba in the east and am able to "read water". Vessel and crew management on ships and boats of all sizes.Familiar with all forms of electronic navigation systems. DGPS, AIS, radars, sounders etc.,fire and life-boat equipment and instruction.Log keeping and report writing.Ship security, customs and immigration requirements and associated paperwork.Deck-work including loading and discharging of vessels, painting, splicing etc.Am also considered a good cook but certainly not a chef.Have worked as a bartender in my younger days and can mix drinks.
