Experience
1980 to 1989: Licensed Engineer in all positions from Third Engineer through Chief Engineer and Gas Engineer, mainly on LPG Tankers, crude Oil and Clean Product Tankers, also Bulk Carriers and general cargo ships.
1989 to 1993: Fleet Maintenance Manager in charge of full technical management, maintenance, repairs, dry docks etc. of 14 fishing vessels in Pesquera Iquique Guanaye S.A., Chile.
1993 and 1994: Fleet Maintenance Manager for three fishing vessels with same responsibilities as above for Pesquera San Miguel S.A., Chile.
1995-1996: Chief Engineer on board LPG "Australgas" owned by Sociedad Naviera Ultragas Ltd. Chile.
1996-1997: First Engineer on board M/T "Punta Angeles" owned by Sociedad Anonima de Navegacion Petrolera SONAP, Chile.
1997-2000 Superintendent Engineer in charge of two geared Bulk Carrier vessels owned by Naviera Chilena del Pacifico S.A., Chile.
September 2000 to May 2003: Port Engineer in Del Monte Fresh Produce Inc. with a fleet of 21 owned reefer vessels, responsible for the full technical Management and Maintenance of the ships, reporting to the Director of Fleet Operations.
May 2003 to January 2006: Fleet Manager in Del Monte Fresh Produce Inc. with an owned fleet of 23 reefer vessels, responsible for the full technical Management and Maintenance of the ships reporting to the Senior Director of Shipping Operations.
January 2006 to October 2009 Fleet Director of Del Monte Fresh Produce in charge of the full management for a fleet of 21 owned reefer vessels including all technical aspects such as Maintenance; Dry Docks supervision, Voyage and Emergency Repairs; Vessels Upgrading; Crewing, through an external manning agent; Budgets control and prepare; Control of Vessels' Performance; carry out periodic Inspections to vessels; Class and General Certifications; Bunker deliveries and control of BDR, ROB and consumption.
In total 8 + years in this Company on Managing positions as above in addition to previous experience in other Companies and at sea.
Education
Basic and High School education complete in Chile.
Merchant Marine Engineering at Escuela Naval Arturo Prat (Chilean Naval Academy)
Certification
During years as a Vessel Superintendent I was certified ISM Internal Auditor for the Company and ABS Qualified Individual to carry out, control, inspect and issue ship's steel plating thickness gauging reports for Special Surveys with ABS Certified Company.
During 1989 through 1993 performed Class Surveys on Hull; CMS, Annual and Damage Surveys as Non Exclusive Surveyor for DNV on all type cargo vessels.
Skils
Licensed Merchant Marine Chief Engineer with Bachelor Degree of Science in Marine Engineering Technology, equivalence evaluated and granted by the Degree Evaluation Division A.E.S.F, USA; with relevant experience on Shipping Managing Positions as per above, in addition to experience at sea on all Engineer positions on board.
Languages: Spanish, mother language; English, Fluid spoken and written.
Computer: Intermediate user level on Windows, Office, Adobe Acrobat and related Softwares.
Hard working and team work orientation with strong leadership; well organized and good written and oral communication skills.
