Maritime attorney with six plus years in the maritime industry. Presently employed by a financial services company as their in-house counsel overseeing and managing 350 cases worldwide. Manage all aspects of litigation for over 350 active cases, including the direct supervision of local trial counsel in the handling of litigation matters for 17 out of the top 20 container lines. Supervisory capacity includes the development of case strategy, ensuring the timely filing of pleadings, overseeing discovery production, the establishment of defense strategies if necessary, and negotiating resolution of cases. Prepare for depositions, including researching and analyzing information pertaining to witnesses, compiling and organizing pertinent material, and drafting deposition outlines. Draft detailed memoranda on legal issues in the maritime industry in response to client needs and for use in active litigation, including advising on contract and service agreement interpretation. Serve as primary client liaison for all ongoing issues relating to litigation and respond directly to client inquiries. Serve as company representative at major industry events including Speaker and Panelist at the first U.S.-China Debt Recovery and Overseas Expansion Conference held in Ningbo, China in April 2007, sponsored by the China Council for Promotion of International Trade, Shanghai Pudong Branch. Help coordinate company-wide marketing initiatives to expand our client base and leverage network of contacts. Manage and coordinate company’s role in annual maritime lobbying event on Capitol Hill and regularly publish articles in the company’s magazine the Maritimer on current issues in the maritime industry.
