Objective
To leverage my commercial vessel work history and Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) into a career
offering long-term stability and employee advancement. As an excellent cook and non-smoker with no prior drug/alcohol
offenses, I believe I would be a valued asset to any high quality maritime transportation company.
Experience
2011 – 2014 Maritime Fabrication, Inc. La Conner, WA
Boat Builder / Welder & Fabricator
• La Conner: As part of the crew of this full-service boatyard I have been involved with every stage of the boat
building process from mechanical and hydraulic installations to hull lay-up and mold modifications. Additionally, I
have fabricated from start to finish the necessary deck machinery items such as Anchor Winches, Net Reels, Power
Rollers, Crab pot launchers, and Picking Booms used in the commercial fishing business.
• Naknek, AK: Beginning in May each year, much of the La Conner yard crew transfers to the Naknek plant. After
shipping all the newly created deck machinery north, I then perform the final fit/finish of each item to vessels
preparing for the summer fishing season. The weather and work conditions in Alaska are obviously not optimal
for fabrication and fiberglass repairs (done largely outside), but because I am at home either in the shop or in the
field, all projects I undertake have the same level of quality throughout.
2003 – 2014 Commercial Fishing Alaska
Engineer / Deck Boss
• Bristol Bay: This is the most competitive fishery in Alaska. Spending up to a month and a half at sea each summer
instructing a crew of two, I have gillnetted over 2-million pounds of salmon. Job tasks include engine room
maintenance, picking fish, mending nets, and safe operation of the vessel in highly congested waterways. Working
24 hours a day during the peak of the fishing season lends itself to an extremely rigorous work environment and
high demand for my ability to stay focused and continue working.
Sole Proprietor / Deckhand
• Juneau: Long-lining aboard a C-class halibut boat. I have personally caught over 100k lbs of halibut and nearly 60k
lbs as a deckhand. With each trip being 3-5 days long, I am in charge of baiting gear, setting the strings, hauling the
catch, and off-loading to the processor. Since this fishery is Federally regulated, my attention to detail and ability to
multitask is mandatory so as to avoid fines and penalties during delivery.
2003 – 2007 Alpine Air Kona, HI
Priority Mail Supervisor
• With up to 12 planes delivering airmail throughout the Hawaiian Islands I was in charge of a 2-3 person ground
crew at the Kailua-Kona airstrip. Once the Beech 99 or 1900 planes would touch down it was up to us to offload up
to 20k pounds of time sensitive freight and mail to the waiting curriers. We would scan each item to ensure
tracking ability and record time of delivery. Since much of our work was for the US Postal Service, I was also
required to pass an FBI background check and fingerprint identification.
