Operation and maintenance on board ocean-going research vessels.

Duties included;
Loading and securing for sea, ship supplies, food stores and scientific equipment.
Receiving, verifying and escorting science party personnel on board ship.
Operating or directing crane and wench operations in port and at sea.
Maintaining effective communication with personnel on deck while deploying and
retrieving scientific instruments.
Bridgewatch / Helmsman.
Performing safety and security rounds throughout the ship at sea and in port.
Responsible for routine ship and equipment maintenance.
And just about everything else.
