I worked as part of a crew on a cargo vessel which delivered fuel, containers, and supplies around the Falkland Islands and carrying cargo from Stanley to Chile . This involved sailing from Stanley to Chile every 6 weeks which required me to work long hours in crane operations and be physically fit to assist with operations on the ship. I worked as part of a rota system , which involved working 3 months away on each trip.

I worked as part of the Merchant Navy providing operational services to various cargo ships, tankers, which involved sailing to different parts of the world in areas like Spain , UK main coast , South Africa.
My main tasks in each vessel were to contribute to the general operations of the ship
• Contributing to maintain a bridge watch – lookout duties, steering the vessel.
• Mooring, anchoring and maintaining the security of the vessel.
• Taking charge of survival craft and rescue boats
• Maintaining steelwork and deck equipment
• Contributing to vessel operations eg cargo work.
