AB Limited with engineering experience

Objective

I am looking to find a fullfilling career at a good company while acheiving success at work and home. I am looking to continue learning as I raise my license, and to find a company that I can grow with.

Experience

Boat US. -Assitant store manager. I was entrusted with the scheduling of employees, merchandise and overall operation of the store.

Harbor Branch Oceanagraphic. -Feb,6,2002 to Jan,1,2007 I started on this research vessel as a deckhand working with hydraulic winches, cranes, and A Frames. I did routine maintanance on the boat along with operation of overboard science expiriments. I also ran the small boat during dive operations. After a year at deckhand I was promoted to the lead on deck. I was responsible for scheduling the maintainance of the deck and general quarters. I found the jobs that needed to be done and was in charge of the other deckhands while reporting to the first mate. I found myself working with the pumps regularly and fixing a lot of the problems that we had with the small boats and took an unlicensed 2nd assistant engineers position for the last six months while I was on the boat. This happened while the Lufkin gears and clutch broke and I was able to help the engineering dept and show that I had valuable knowledge and troubleshooting skills as a mechanic and engineer. I learned the engine room and all ships systems rapidly and enjoyed the work that I did. Unfortunately funding was running out for the research community and there were very few trips scheduled for the next year. At this point I was being pursued by another company to come and work for them and the time was right to move on in the marine industry.

Florida Detroit Diesel-Allison. -Jan,1,2007 to present.

I am a marine mechanic presently and work on boats from Ft Pierce to the Florida Keys and travel to other countries to fix problems. I enjoy my work very much, but am getting the itch to get back out on land. I have been factory trained on several of the engines and think that this will fit in well to whatever position I fill on board a ship, from the deck to bridge, to engine dept.

Education

Chapmans school of seamanship. - Professional Marine Training. Sept 2001 to Dec 2001. Here I learned ships handling, navagation, maintainance, engines, and other aspects of the career that I wanted to have. I graduated second in the class with high honors and a 97% avg. I learned many things here, and enjoyed getting started in the career that I wanted to have.

Dakota County Technical institute. -Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. 1998-1999. I became a certified systems engineer for Microsoft and enjoyed what I did, but soon learned that sitting at a desk all of the time just wasn't right for me. Fortunately enough, this has proved very usefull in the persuit of my maritime career.

Thompson School. 2003-2005. AST in Engineering technologies. I always enjoy learning and found engineering tech as a way to keep myself learning while on the ship. This gave me much practical knowledge and background for understanding and fixing many different types of equipment.

Southeast State Technical institute. Jan 08 to present. Computer programming. This has helped my mechanic job as more and more of the engines are going to computer controlls and i can understand them much better now.
