Spotless facilities maintenance (October 07- current)



Duties included:

Hired as I general hand initially, having since moved on to a plumbing and pipe fitting role working 40 hours per week 5 days working mainly throughout the Wellington CBD on all types structures and environments.

Fishing vessel- Winbill-New Zealand (Feb 07-September 07)



Duties included:

This is a 57ft trawler my position as a deckhand had tasks and duties ranging from fish sorting, net work, trawl gear handling and watch keeping also the day to day tasks

F.V Steve Mayree-New Zealand (FEB 04- JANUARY 07)



Duties included:

fishing throughout the year mainly fishing in summer and mid winter for crayfish filling in the rest of the days fishing for a variety of species for both local and international markets my position on this 63ft vessel started as a greenhorn becoming head deckhand a year later and controlled the vessels hydraulic winches.



F.V Carnivore-Australia (Feb 06-July 06)



Duties included:

Due to a major re-fit of the vessel I was working on at the time I took the opportunity to go western Australia to fish in the Indian ocean for crayfish working 7 days a week as a deckhand then returned to new Zealand due to work commitments

F.V Lady Anna-New Zealand (Sept/Aug 05-06-07)



Duties included:

I was working on this 52ft vessel during the winter Hoki season as a deckhand other tasks are compiled of watch keeping, trawl gear handling stacking and sorting of fish.

Duties included:

I have worked on this 53ft vessel numerous times as a relief deckhand whilst being employed by another local vessel during the crayfish seasons controlling the boats winches and day to day task of a typical new Zealand Cray fishing vessel .

M.V Sea Surveyor-New Zealand (August-October 04)



Duties included:

I boarded this 90ft research vessel in early October of 2004 to accumulate sea time and gain more perspective of the maritime industry on board a ship other than fishing vessels. My position was a deckhand capacity and was familiarized with the boats radars and sounding equipment using electronics to plot other vessels passing through the Cook Strait Cable Protection Zone.



South pacific 2000ltd (April-December 03)



Duties included:

This company is a live exporter of New Zealand Crayfish my position as a factory hand gave me a insight to the seafood industry and I was trained to meet the high standard of product presentation and maintaining the live wells for maximum recovery of fisherman catches.

I attended college in Wellington NZ at st Patrick’s college there I gained

- NCEA (national certificate of educational achievement) level 1, 2, 3

National coast guard

- completing and passing a comprehensive “boat masters” course at a recreational level in 2002

Red cross NZ

-first aid certificate which has been updated every year since 2002 and is still current



New Zealand certificate of competency

-in February of 2008 I attended nelson Marlborough institute of technology gaining and being found qualified as a inshore launch master allowing me to captain a vessel up to 20 meters in length and anywhere in New Zealand out to 12 miles to sea carrying no more than 100 passengers along with this course I gained



- restricted radar certificate

- restricted radio telephone certificate
