50 TON inland Captain

Objective

I am seeking a company who is employee oriented, and has stable work. I wish to increase my license to its fullest potential, and know I must work my way up. I seek full-time, long-term employment. I am currently an electrical union member, and am willing to join a maritime union, (or not) that the company may be involved with.

Experience

I have been working on inland waters of NE Florida since 1984. I started with the Boy Scouts of America at the Aquatics camp located on Dr. Lake/St. Johns River as an instructor. From April 1996 until May 2007, I was a Marine Enforcement Deputy for the Clay County Sheriff's Department. I started as a deputy, became Sergeant of the auxiliary marine unit, and then Lieutenant of the auxiliary marine unit. I patrolled Dr. Lake, St. Johns River, Black Creek, and other inland non-tidal lakes through out the county. I also taught the State of Florida Safe Boating Course with the sheriff's department, in which I still do today under my own business. I am very maritime safety oriented. I left the sheriff's department because I started my own company to teach the captains class.I am currently a relief/backup captain for the river taxi in Jacksonville, FL. I have also done some bosun work aboard the Infinity, known currently as the Jacksonville Princess 2. I am currently working for a local electrical contractor.

Education

My education consists of high school, police academy, electrical vo-tech, Sea School, and some college.
