Daily duties included: diagnostic, troubleshooting, tune up and preventive maintenance of main and auxiliary machinery in order to ensure proper operation and longevity of a tugboats. Additional duties included general overhauling /rebuilding of main propulsion engines -Detroit Diesel/EMD. Installing new main propulsion engines/shafts on tugs under construction. Maintenance of tug’s electrical systems, sanitation systems, compressed air, firefighting and other auxiliaries. Carrying out preventive maintenance timetable.

Engineering Officer – in –Training, 275 sea-days.

Assisting licensed engineers in routine maintenance of: main engines; boilers; lube/fuel oil systems; generators; electric: motors, controllers and insulation (megger testing); air compressors; L.O./F.O. purifiers; stern tube lube oil system. Taking part in troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds of auxiliary equipment – mostly pumps and valves. Also watchstanding, maneuvering, fueling, fire and boat drills. In addition 18 credit hours of Independent Studies were completed in the following subjects: main propulsion (steam and diesel), shipboard systems( F.O./L.O. purifiers, sewage, L.O., F.O. , SS/Control air, potable/sea water, combustion boilers etc. ),electrical distribution systems ( AC generators, AC/DC motors, etc.), unloading/discharge systems, HVAC systems and Engine Room business/operations/deck operations All major shipboard systems were traced in order to understand their principles of operations, dependency and interconnection.

Orders were made of General, Shipping, Payment Terms, Port and Parameter Value, To customize projects; proprietary codes were developed to maximize performance and code optimization. Database designing and development of following modules: 1) Auction: Bid Generation, Automatic / Manual Awarding, BID reports. 2) User Management: User (Normal, Super and Administrator) Creation, Privilege assignment, Company creation, Payment terms, Port details. 3) Code: review, and test case reviews as part of handling the project life cycle. The application was implemented using J2EE (EJB, JMS, JSP, Servlet), XML (DOM), Web Logic 8.0, Oracle 9i and Windows 2000/XP.

Java developer. Development and maintenance of software projects for various web customers. All projects were written in Java and utilized Servlet as the backend connecting to the Oracle database server. To customize projects, proprietary codes were developed to maximize performance and code optimization. Development of reusable and extensible Servlets’ based architecture for rapid web application creation. Utilization of the Servlets’ architecture in implementation of: web applications; database connectivity, object-caching and template management. Many midsize projects were programmed and maintained for promotional websites. Visitors could register to receive weekly mailings, browse a database and enter into sweepstakes. The website was implemented with Solaris OS, Apache/JServ and Oracle
