Deck Officer
-Responsible for the safe navigation of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba, a 270 foot medium endurance Cutter responsible for Offshore Search and Rescue, Maritime Law Enforcement, Marine Safety and Maritime Homeland Security.
-Used ship handling skills in close proximity to other vessels on a daily basis while conducting towing operations for fishing vessels both beset by heavy weather and disabled from mechanical casualties and during Law Enforcement boardings.
-Weapons Division supervisor; while onboard corrected multiple division maintenance discrepancies, scoring a perfect review at the next gunnery evaluation.
-Training Officer; Responsible to ensure that all crewman of the Cutter were current in their job related training.
-Public Affairs Officer; Handled all media inquires, generated press releases for current operations and coordinated media events for a visit by President George W. Bush.
M/V Horizon’s Edge, Lynn, MA 6/2001-8/2001
Mate
-Responsible for the safe navigation of a $10 million dollar, 186 foot Casino vessel carrying up to 500 passengers per trip.
-Docked, undocked and piloted vessel in waterway only a few feet wider than vessels beam both day and night.
-Responsible for all voyage planning before each 6 hour trip (Twice per day).
-Managed deck crew of 10 people and 1 engineer on each voyage.
-Used training to indoctrinate new personnel on vessel survival systems.
USNS Tippecanoe (TAO-199), Singapore 1/2000-3/2000
Cadet Deck Officer (Intern 3rd Mate)
-Acted as Officer-in-Charge of a Navigational watch under the supervision of a licensed deck officer onboard USNS Tippecanoe, a 699 foot oilier conducting at sea refueling services for the U.S. Navy.
-Worked refueling-at-sea operations from both the main deck, the Bridge and Cargo Control
-Assisted in all voyage planning
-Oversaw loading/off-loading of JP-5 and Diesel fuel under supervision of the Cargo Mate
