Experience


WORK EXPERIENCE

Vulcan Maritime, Seattle, WA Jan. 2007 – Present

• 2nd Officer on the 420-foot M/Y OCTOPUS.

• Officer-In-Charge of a Navigational watch, piloting OCTOPUS in waters worldwide in various sea and traffic conditions.

• Overseeing marina operations, including piloting/maintenance of 7 tenders and multiple jet skis.

• Operating the 19-meter tender MAN OF WAR autonomously from OCTOPUS as captain.

• Participant in Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) dives.

• Also, operating the vessel utilizing Dynamic Positioning (Kongsberg) for position holding, underwater and ROV operations.

Cruise West, Seattle, WA Aug. 2006 – Nov. 2006

• 2nd Officer and Chief Officer on the 267-foot cruise vessel YORKTOWN CLIPPER. Responsible for shipboard security, navigation publications, chart corrections and voyage planning as 2nd Officer. Also, performed duties as Medical Officer and Vessel Security Officer.

• As Chief Officer managed a deckhand staff of seven and oversaw the upkeep of the exterior and certain interior spaces of the vessel.

• Ensured the safety and comfort of passengers, ship, and crew as a Bridge Watch Officer. Piloted the vessel throughout SE Alaska, British Columbia, Puget Sound and San Francisco Bay, including the Napa River.

Argosy Cruises, Seattle, WA Aug. 1999 – Aug. 2006

• Captain and Asst. Engineer onboard the 180-foot dining vessel ROYAL ARGOSY.

• Piloted Dinner Boats in Elliot Bay, Puget Sound and surrounding tributaries.

• Seattle Harbor Tour Narrator

• Ship Maintenance Experience Including: lubrication service, sewage engineer, painting, and electrical work.

Hornblower Cruises and Events, San Francisco, CA 2003 – 2005

• Performed duties consummate with the following positions: Captain, Mate and Ordinary Seaman.

Crowley Maritime, Tugs TANERLIQ and ATTENTIVE, Cadet Shipping Summer 2004

• Piloted tugboats for Crowley Valdez, AK during oil tanker escort operations in Prince William Sound. Performed duties in conjunction with the Second Mate, including watch standing, chart work/chart corrections and deck work.

• Operated both VOITH SCHNEIDER and Z-Drive Propulsion systems.
