100 ton Master, Able Seaman

Objective

My main objective is to enter into the Merchant Marine Industry with a company that has an energetic and professional staff and crew. I work well with all types of people and am looking to excel and advance my position within the company and industry. My preference would be to work internationally, however domestic work is also an option.

Experience

Since December 2004, I have worked under the directorship of William Ward, former owner of Hualalai Water Sports, which has now merged with Ocean Sports Inc. Beginning as a deck hand on a 50 foot catamaran, I was responsible for line handling, mooring and anchoring, safety of passengers and overall customer service. In June 2005, I became a certified scuba diving instructor. Responsibilities were very similar to a deck hand, with the addition of underwater safety and the teaching of new divers. In November 2009, I received my 100 Ton Masters License and Able Seaman Rating with sailing and tow endorsements. Since then I have operated as captain aboard all 4 of our company's vessels. As captain, I am in charge of 1-5 crew members, overall passenger and vessel safety and troubleshooting any obstacles that may have arisen before, during or after a charter.

Education

In 2000 I graduated from Eaglecrest High School in Centennial, CO with a 3.7 GPA. 2001 thru 2003 I attended Northern Arizona University, with a degree path toward Forestry. I had a 3.8 GPA but did not have the financial stability to continue. In May 2005 I graduated from an instructor development course in Kailua Kona, HI to receive my PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor's License. In March 2009, at the Maritime License Center in Honolulu, HI, I completed an STCW course, Lifeboatsman Course and 100 Ton Masters Development course.

Certification

Emergency Responder, CPR and First Aid

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

100 Ton Master of Steam, motor or auxiliary sail, upon near coastal waters. Authorized to engage in commercial assistance towing and lifeboatman capacity.

Skils

I am a confident, hardworking individual who is very familiar with ocean conditions, overall boat operations and works well with all kinds of people. I am often looked upon, within Ocean Sports for the mechanics of our vessels and any body repairs/maintenance issues. I have also been in charge of all mooring inspections and maintenance for the past 3 years. Being a young captain within our company, I have been given much more responsibilities than most of the senior captains due to my eagerness to work and my universal knowledge of boat mechanics.

I am very eager to start a new career within the mechant marine industry. I love being on the water and would love to travel the oceans with the help of a career in this industry. I am a quick learner with anything I put my mind to and am always looking to gain new skills for the betterment of myself and the company for which I am working. I know I can give a company as much if not more than what they expect of me. Please do not hesitate to contact me for additional information, history, license numbers, etc.
