Description

The California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees took an exciting step on November 21, 2024, voting to approve the CSU Chancellor’s recommendation to integrate Cal Poly and California State University Maritime Academy. The 92-acre maritime campus in Vallejo, in Solano County, California, will be known as “Cal Poly, Solano Campus” and will house the “Cal Poly Maritime Academy.” Integration will result in one university (Cal Poly) under one president, President Jeffrey D. Armstrong. After July 2025, the new VP/CEO will lead the Solano campus while the new Superintendent will be appointed to lead the Cal Poly Maritime Academy. The VP/CEO will report to the president of Cal Poly and serve on the president’s leadership cabinet. The Superintendent will report to the Vice President / CEO of the Cal Poly, Solano Campus for campus and operational matters and to the Provost and EVP for Academic Affairs of Cal Poly for academic matters. Integration will result in a single administrative structure and one budget.

Serving on the President’s Cabinet, the VP/CEO will provide strategic vision, leadership, and management for all operations and initiatives at the Cal Poly, Solano Campus. This senior leadership position plays a critical and highly collaborative role within Cal Poly’s executive structure. The role is pivotal in aligning Cal Poly, Solano Campus priorities with the overarching vision and goals of Cal Poly, fostering an environment of academic excellence, and promoting student success and institutional growth. The Superintendent will serve as the administrative and academic leader of Cal Poly Maritime Academy.
